Resilience.

When I think of resilience as a trait, I often associate it with trees. At the beginning of their life, they are frail and vulnerable to various external factors such as squirrels, deer, wind, drought, and frost. However, if they manage to survive long enough to develop an impermeable outer bark, they have a better chance of reaching maturity. In the Pass, I have noticed many trees that are leaning towards the east due to the western winds, yet they still stand strong. Below the ground, trees create an interwoven root bed with each other, allowing them to remain upright during strong gusts. Similarly, if we face challenges while remaining rooted in the rich hummus of an interconnected community, we too can build resilience.
