Joy in Fellow Creatures.

As I observe other animals, it feels as if I enter into the same pace of time that they have. Most of their lives are spent moving at an instinctual pace that has been with their species for centuries. I imagine the geese flap their wings and paddle their feet at the same rate their ancestors did. The beaver swims along the shoreline and waddles onto the wet rocks in the same way beavers did during the settling of Canada. Even my dog, Aspen, likely plays fetch in a similar way as the earliest dogs played fetch. It appears that all creatures have a pace at which they move through the world and thrive. In our hurried modern world, being reminded to return to a human pace as exemplified by other creatures is an earnest joy.
