Backdrop.
Growing up at the intersection of parkland and boreal forest, it was always a challenge to create a cohesive composition when the sky was dull or uninteresting. However, when I moved to Whitehorse, where the city was surrounded by mountains, it felt like an advantage to have the steadfast, grey features protruding into the sky. I was no longer limited to composing flat horizons. Whenever I reflect on the different landscapes, I often miss the simplicity that the flatlands provided, while being equally grateful for the new and beautiful backdrops I have here.
