Country Skiing.
About the Image:
The joy of cross country skiing was only recently brought to my attention by our good friends Les and Sarah. Last winter Celine and I managed to get out on the trails about once a week and after some patient coaching from Les, we even managed to transcend the status of 'feet draggers' into what might have resembled clumsy Olympic gliders. I mention our skiing experience because the image for February was made during the regular commute to this newfound pass time.
The winter snow offers an ideal canvas for minimalist scenes. Whenever the all-encompassing, dove-grey skies dissolve into blue, it feels like a beacon of hope for the warmer growing seasons. The combination of clouds wisping away overtop the barren landscape, partnered with the familiar barbed wire fence, is a scene routinely passed by most. Similarly passed up is the opportunity to continue engaging in joy-inducing activities during the winter months. This absence of passion leaves room for dread and depression while forgetting the hope we have for the months we can flourish.
Reflection:
Everything an individual creates, manifests, or embodies in their lifetime is incomplete until mortality places the concluding punctuation. The people involved in the individuals' preceding life story are who determine the specific final punctuation.
