Change.
The time frame of transition and change in life is often not determined before we enter into the process. Of course, there are predetermined transformational processes like that of seeds growing into plants, or caterpillars metamorphosing into butterflies, however, in these examples, cognitive comprehension of that change is assumed to be absent. Humans all have varying perspicacity for how impactful various shifts could be.
I advocate that introducing healthy struggles into our lives is a positive practice. Through this continual intentionality to avoid stagnation in development, we become increasingly capable of aiding others through life and expanding our capacity to handle unfamiliar situations. As we grow, success and progress slow down because the challenges we face equally scale.
We may anticipate certain changes as easy or simplistic but they can have unexpected, resounding effects on our lives. As we become increasingly aware of certain values, additional friction and unforeseen conflict or tension with those around us may arise. Mitigating or resolving this internal, and occasionally external, tension is a relentless challenge for me. One change that has continued to weigh heavily on me is my move to Whitehorse from my hometown of Bonnyville. Before I had any concept of homelands, this would have been nugatory and leaving would have been appealing. My longing for home, family, friends, and familiarity has produced a change that feels arduous and will last for an undetermined amount of time.
